Rachel had taken advantage of the temporary lull in the ER to take a short break in the fresh non-sterilized air. She took a deep breath and let it out slowly as she followed one of the cardiologists outside. She went around him as he lit up a cigarette and stood by one of the ashtrays and headed towards an empty bench. Rachel sat on it, inching back slowly as she got used to the chill the bench shot up her spine. Her hands ran through her hair and stopped at the hair tie holding the rest of her hair in a tight ponytail. She pulled the hair tie loose and continued running her fingers through, taking a moment to pause and give her scalp a quick massage.

With a slight sigh, Rachel watched as the cardiologist was joined by someone from the respiratory department, both of them chatting lightly and blowing puffs of smoke in the air. It amused her at the fact that they even smoked when they saw so many patients who were dying from that habit. She laughed quietly to herself, careful not to draw attention from the doctors as she stretched along the bench with a yawn. She scolded herself for yawning, knowing that she had no time for a nap, not even a power nap as she sat up once more.
